CropLife Asia first conceived agLearn in 1999 through the creation of The Asia Pacific RegionalTechnology Centre (APRTC). The APRTC created an educational program utilizing new information and communication technologies to facilitate the rapid dissemination of knowledge via the Internet.

agLearn is the result of 3 years of course development and interactive on-line teaching. Following the completion of APRTC’s mandate in 2003, the good work of agLearn has been re-packaged at agLearn.net to become more user-friendly and to accommodate technology advances. At first the agLearn network will function purely as a resource base, with materials being made more accessible to a wider range of computer platforms and types. Later, should demand dictate, courses will be enhanced through the addition of synchronous communications tools, assessment modules, and new assignments.
